On 7 January 2014, Capital Ceremony for Science and Technology 2014 - Figures in Science and Technology Leading in Created in Beijing was held at Beijing TV. NUCTECH president Chen Zhiqiang, Leijun who created Mi, a smart cell phone that is very popular in China, Qiao Jie who made Beking University Third Hospital take the very lead in the assisted reproductive technology over the world and ma Changsheng, director of Department of Cardiology, Anzhen Hospital, Beijing, who is thought as No. 1 in atrial fibrillation RF ablation by his peels at home are among 20 persons working in the frontier of the scientific worker that have been awarded as scientific and technologic figures driving Creation in Beijing.
The event sponsored jointly by Propaganda Department of Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Beijing Municipal Commission for Science and Technology, organized by Beijing Cooperative Center for Science and Technology, Capital Association for Science &Technology Service Industry and Beijing TV Station, is intended to let the whole society experience the power of science and technology, and guide the people to pay more respect to knowledge, talents and science by delivering the spirit with which scientists are willing to devote and have courage to make bold innovations.
The ceremony started with a short video Science and Technology Lead the Future and followed by staging of 20 frontline scientific and technical figures who have made great contributions in the emerging strategic fields such as energy-conserving and environmental protection, new generation information technology, bio-medicine, state of art equipment manufacturing, aviation and aerospace, and new energy and materials, and made a brief but rich speed about their respective fields. NUCTECH President Chen Zhiqiang presented a live show with a Raman Security Inspector on the stage which the compere said is "an amazing machine". The ceremony have been broadcast through the channel of science and education, Beijing TV station, at 16:00 pm, 9 Feb. 2014.
