NUCTECH Equipment Found Massive Smuggling Wood at Moding Customs, Laos

On Nov. 5 2013, custom officers, Moding, Laos, seized a lot of Dalbergia oliveri logs hidden amid of charcoal on trucks. At first, massive rosewood was found from the scanned image of the loaded truck exporting charcoal to China. After other trucks listed in the same batch of manifest were scanned, three were found loaded secretly with massive Dalbergia oliveri logs which has been listed in the World's Endangered Tree Catalogue in the weight about 30 tons, or RMB 4,000,000 plus. The case is being under investigation. The leaders of the customs affirmed the imporant role that NUCTECH-supplied scanning equipment has been playing and expressed their intention to intensify scanning imported and exported goods.
